Horror as woman impaled on school fence found hanging by her arm six feet in the air

A woman who tried to climb a school fence had to be rescued when her and left her dangling more than six foot in the air in agony.

The alarm was raised when the woman’s screams were heard by trade workers standing nearby and they attempted to come to her rescue. While emergency services made their way to the scene, they erected a ladder for the 37-year-old to stand on while she dangled by her left arm on the fence of Riverstone High School this morning in Sydney, . Although she was awake, the woman was said to be in a “lot of pain” as she dangled from the fence and waited to be saved.

NSW Ambulance inspector Nathan Sheraton said: “[The woman was] dangling by her left arm on the fence of the school.[She suffered a] significant wound to the inside of her left upper arm

“It’s evident the fence tore some of the flesh which caused significant pain to her.”

When she was eventually cut free, some of the fence remained embedded in her arm.

She was rushed to Royal North Shore Hospital where she was in a serious but stable condition. reported the woman had attempted to climb the fence to retrieve her daughter’s phone which had been left at the school.

Fire and Rescue NSW said in a statement on social media: “Today firefighters from Fire and Rescue NSW Station 83 Riverstone were called to a rescue incident in Riverstone. Upon arrival firefighters located a person impaled on a fence about 2 metres in the air.

“Firefighters worked to stabilise the individual until specialist Rescue Firefighters from Fire and Rescue NSW Station 063 Blacktown arrived. A platform was set up to allow access to the casualty and under the guidance of Aeromedical Doctors and NSW Ambulance, firefighters worked to remove the impalement and free the casualty from the fence.

“A coordinated effort by agencies resulted in a positive outcome for the patient.”

Neighbour Katelynn Campbell said there were a “crazy” amount of emergency crews at the scene of the incident. Describing the mum’s decision as “insane, she told the publication: “I’ve never seen nothing like it in my life.

“She shouldn’t be entering school grounds, her daughter could have waited until Monday to retrieve the phone. Instead, she’s put her own life at stake.”
