Choose PCM in 11th-12th: It is very important to study Physics, Chemistry, and Maths (PCM) in 11th and 12th.
Do B.E./B.Tech or B.Sc.: After 12th, you will have to do graduation (B.Sc.) in Engineering (such as Mechanical, Computer Science, Electrical, Aerospace) or Science.
GATE Exam: After graduation, you will have to pass the GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) exam. Students who score well in this exam are shortlisted for the post of 'Scientist B'. This recruitment process is done through the Recruitment and Assessment Center (RAC).
How is the selection done?
DRDO CEPTAM Exam: Recruitment for Technician A, Senior Technical Assistant B and Admin and Allied posts is done through CEPTAM (Centre for Personnel Talent Management). There is a computer based test (CBT) in this. Skill test and physical test are also taken for some posts. For this, the age limit in the general category should be 18-28 years for Technician A/STA-B, 18-27 years for Admin and Allied and up to 28 years for Scientist B.
