Adaso, a resident of Manipur, recently came into the limelight when a picture of her with Prime Minister Narendra Modi went viral. This was not an ordinary picture, because she was in the uniform of the country's most special security unit SPG (Special Protection Group) and that too as a female commando.
Adaso Kapesa has become the first female SPG commando to be included in the security of the Prime Minister. This is a moment of pride and inspiration not only for her but for the women of the entire country and especially the daughters of the North-Eastern states.
What is SPG?
SPG i.e. Special Protection Group is a special security unit formed for the protection of the Prime Minister of India and his family. This unit works under the central government and its commandos are given special training. It is very difficult to join this unit, because it has tests at both mental and physical levels.
Adaso's journey
Adaso Kapesa belongs to a small village "Kaibi" in Sinepati district of Manipur. She is from the Mao Naga tribe. After studies, she joined SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal) and worked in the 55th battalion of Pithoragarh (Uttarakhand). From here her journey reached SPG. She proved herself not only with her courage but also with discipline and hard work.
How do you become an SPG commando?
There is no direct recruitment in SPG. Only those are taken in it who are already working in any paramilitary force like CRPF, CISF, SSB or ITBP. After selection, they are given special training which includes subjects like weapons training, martial arts, bomb defusing, secret missions and mental strength.
What is the salary of SPG commandos?
According to reports, SPG commandos are given attractive salaries and allowances. Their monthly salary starts from 84,000 and can go up to 2.4 lakhs. Apart from this, they also get special risk allowance, dress allowance, travel allowance and health facilities.
