Lucknow Super Giants leg-break spinner, Digvesh Rathi, has found himself caught in yet another controversy after an on-field verbal fight with Sunrisers Hyderabad opener, Abhishek Sharma. The 25-year-old spinner has been making rounds in the news due to breaching IPL Code of Conduct repeatedly.
After making a humiliating “send-off” celebration against Punjab Kings batter, Priyansh Arya, and Mumbai Indians batter, Naman Dhir, the spinner did the same celebration yet again after taking the wicket of Abhishek Sharma in Lucknow Super Giants vs Sunrisers Hyderabad match.
The 25-year-old has accumulated quite an amount in fines, totalling to around 9.37 lakhs. As Digvesh Rathi became a fierce force against “fair-play” and IPL Code of Conduct (just a joke), we take a look at all the incidents where the leg-break spinner violated the rules.

The first of many violations came against Punjab Kings . Digvesh Rathi’s ball was mistimed by Priyansh Arya, leading to Shardul Thakur taking a simple catch in the mid-on area. After that, the spinner did Virat Kohli’s famous ‘send-off’ or ‘notebook’ celebration that sparked controversy and breached IPL’s Level 1 Code of Conduct. Due to that, 25 percent of his match salary was deducted as fines. The amount totalled to 1.87 Lakhs. Additionally, he also received one demerit point.

Just three days later, LSG spinner Digvesh Rathi was caught doing ‘notebook’ or ‘send off’ celebration yet again in the LSG vs MI match. The spinner knocked the wickets, leaving MI batter Naman Dhir dumbfounded with the excellent bowling. However, Rathi opened his ‘notebook’ to strike him off, but he violated the Code of Conduct again.
Due to that, the fines were doubled this time around and 50 percent of his match salary was deducted for that purpose. He also accumulated two demerit points added to the previous violation against Punjab Kings.

Digvesh Rathi’s provocative celebration was answered by the hot-headed Indian opener, Abhishek Sharma in Lucknow Super Giants vs Sunrisers Hyderabad match. The Indian opener smacked the ball on the off-side which was caught by Shardul Thakur near deep square area. Rathi, yet again, did his ‘send off’ celebration which was retaliated by Abhishek Sharma. Words were exchanged and the on-field umpires and players had to intervene to stop the fight.
