Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s Thamma and Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa’s Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat are clashing at the box office on Diwali 2025.
Both the movies are carrying decent buzz and are expected to be the biggest openers for their lead stars due to the Diwali holiday.
What’s interesting about these two Diwali 2025 releases is that this is the first time in 22 years, movies coming out on this particular festive holiday won’t feature one of the six big superstars of Hindi cinema.

The top six superstars of Hindi cinema who’ve been ruling the box office since the ‘90s and early ‘00s include Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan.
For two decades, the festival of Diwali has been synonymous with the movies featuring either of these superstars.
The Diwali 2025 is the first time no films of these six superstars are coming out on the big screen. Instead the movies that we are getting this time around are Thamma and Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat.

Before Diwali 2025, the last time this happened was back in 2003 when the festive releases didn’t feature either of the six superstars.
