Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], April 6 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh Congress president Pratibha Singh, announced that a statue of the former Himachal Pradesh CM Virbhadra Singh will be unveiled on June 23 on his birth anniversary.
According to Pratibha Singh, the statue will be unveiled at 'The Ridge' and is being made with the donations of people to the foundation. She emphasised that the purpose of building the statue was to do welfare work, and it was not the demand of the family but of the people of Himachal Pradesh.
"The purpose of the foundation established in the name of Virbhadra Singh is to do welfare work. It was a dream of the people that a statue of Raja Sahib (Virbhadra Singh) should be installed on The Ridge... Using the money donated to the foundation by the people, the statue will be installed on his birth anniversary on 23 June... We express our gratitude to the government for agreeing to this and giving us an appropriate place to install the statue. ... This wasn't only our family's demand but also of the people of Himachal Pradesh...", Pratibha Singh told ANI.
Virbhadra Singh has a very long legacy in the politics of Himachal Pradesh. The former CM Virbhadra Singh passed away at 87 due to post-COVID complications in 2021. Singh was a nine-time MLA and five-time member of Parliament, and served as Himachal Pradesh's Chief Minister for six terms.
Meanwhile, the Himachal Pradesh State Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, approved a series of major initiatives on Saturday aimed at improving public services, infrastructure, and revenue generation in the state.
According to a release, the cabinet decided to regularize the services of contractual employees who had completed two years of continuous service as of March 31, 2025. It also approved the regularization of daily waged workers and contingent paid workers who had completed four years of continuous service as of the same date. (ANI)
