Bengaluru/New Delhi: With the IPL fever gripping the country, India Inc is unleashing ways to embrace the thrill of cricket matches at workplaces.
Companies like Dream11, Shalimar Paints, Puma, Grant Thornton Bharat, and Furlenco are not only organising special match screenings at their offices but also rewarding high-performing employees as well as company leaders with match tickets, giving away special signed merchandise through internal contests, and setting up IPL-themed photo booths.
To many, IPL is more than just cricket--it is a full-blown celebration, and when employees can experience the excitement, they in turn become not just more engaged but also motivated, said HR heads that ET spoke to, adding that such events also help to drive team camaraderie.
The Indian Premier League 2025 kicked off on March 22, with the final match scheduled for May 25 at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens stadium.
At sports technology company Dream Sports, employees can stay in the thick of the action with live match screenings across all office floors. The firm kicked off the season with a launch event featuring games and photo opportunities for staff.
“Employees played interactive games like AI-powered body motion balancing and MetaShot Cricket for a next-gen virtual batting challenge, and tested their reflexes in Catch The Ball, Bowl Out Challenge,” said Kevin Freitas, CHRO, Dream Sports.
The company is also holding special treats inspired by the home cities of IPL teams, and employees are encouraged to sport their favourite team jerseys.
Sportswear brand Puma has organised team cricket matches to bring the excitement to the workplace. Employees are also being encouraged to wear jerseys of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC) teams - which the company is the official kit partner for. Senior company executives will also be travelling for matches.
“We have ticket allocations, too, that we offer to employees for all home games so both Delhi and Bengaluru Puma employees get to go for matches,” said Manisha Agarwal, director of people and organisation, Puma India.
Grant Thornton Bharat has reserved a hospitality box at Mumbai’s Wankhede stadium, where long-tenured and high-performing employees along with next-gen leaders from the firm will have the opportunity to watch the matches live. Similarly, furniture startup Furlenco is providing match tickets for more than 50 employees and setting up life-size cutouts of select players in the office to enhance the experience.
Shalimar Paints is giving away specially-signed Mumbai Indians merchandise and match tickets as rewards to employees via internal engagement activities and contests, recognising their dedication and hard work.
“To add a fun and interactive element, we are also encouraging our employees to participate in multiple contests on LinkedIn, where they can predict match outcomes and win exclusive merchandise and tickets,” said Kuldip Raina, director, Shalimar Paints.
