Ashadha month mein kya karein kya nahin: The fourth month of the Hindu calendar, Ashadha, is going to start soon. This month is considered very important religiously, spiritually, and naturally. After the scorching heat, the rainy season arrives this month, making nature more attractive. In Sanatan Dharma, every month is dedicated to some deity. In this episode, the month of Ashadha is dedicated to Lord Vishnu.

In this holy month, special worship of Lord Vishnu is done and many important fasts and festivals are celebrated. Ashadha month is going to start from 12 June 2025 and it will end on 10 July. This month prompts us to bring changes in our routine and diet. Let us know what should be done and what should be avoided in the month of Ashadha.
Importance of Ashadha month
Being an agricultural country, this month is very important for farmers to sow Kharif crops. Lord Vishnu goes into Yog Nidra for four months from 6th July, Ekadashi (Devshayani Ekadashi) of Ashadh Shukla Paksha. This period is called 'Chaturmas'. During this time, auspicious works like marriage, and housewarming are forbidden, but bhajan-kirtan, religious rituals, and penance have special importance. This month is considered to be the best for self-purification, charity, virtue, and penance. The fruits of sadhana and worship done during this time are many times more.
What to do in Ashadh month-
Worship Lord Vishnu especially throughout this month. Do bhakti for his happiness before Devshayani Ekadashi.
Due to the onset of the rainy season, the importance of water increases. In this month, do water conservation and water donation (like setting up a pyau).
Donating food, clothes, and water in this month is considered extremely auspicious. Helping the needy leads to virtue.
Eat light and easily digestible food. Include dal, rice, green vegetables and seasonal fruits in the diet.
Lord Vishnu loves Tulsi very much. Worship Tulsi regularly and offer water to it during this month.

What not to do in the month of Ashadha?
Due to the beginning of Chaturmas from Devshayani Ekadashi, big auspicious works like marriage, housewarming, mundan etc. are not performed.
Reduce or avoid the consumption of non-vegetarian and tamasic food during this month.
Excessive consumption of garlic and onion is also considered forbidden.
Not only this, eating stale food is also prohibited during this month.
