Pregnancy Skin Care: Pregnancy is a very special time for every woman. However, it also brings with it several challenges, especially for the skin and hair. Therefore, most women start using various products to maintain healthy skin. However, not every product is safe during pregnancy. Some products can be harmful to both mother and baby. Renowned dermatologist Ankur Sarin shared information on his Instagram. He explained which products pregnant women should avoid during skincare. Let's learn about them:
Tretinoin/Retinoids
Dermatologists say that tretinoin or retinoids are vitamin A-derived products commonly used for acne and anti-aging. However, they should be avoided during pregnancy. They can affect fetal development and negatively impact the baby's health.
High-Strength Salicylic Acid (>2%)
Salicylic acid is very popular for cleansing the skin and reducing pimples. However, if used in strong concentrations (more than 2%) in serums or peels, it can be absorbed into the bloodstream and cause harm.
Essential Oils
Dr. Sarin explains that people often assume that natural oils like tea tree, rosemary, or peppermint oil are safe. However, the truth is that these oils can cause skin irritation, allergic reactions, or even contractions in large quantities. Therefore, it is best to avoid them during pregnancy.
Hair Dye
In addition to all this, dermatologists also advise against coloring hair during pregnancy. Hair dyes should be avoided at all costs, especially during the first three months. The chemicals and ammonia present in them can be harmful to health.

Dr. Sarin explains that the skin becomes very sensitive during pregnancy, so consult a doctor before using any new product. You can protect yourself and your baby by staying away from the products mentioned above.
