Dhar (Madhya Pradesh): A liquor contractor manager was attacked by three assailants who vandalised his vehicle on Wednesday night.
Jaiswal and his companions were ambushed at TVS intersection after collecting money from liquor shops. The attackers fled the scene. After the incident, Jaiswal complained at Kotwali police station.
Police registered a case against the suspects Manish, Ajay and Ashish and are investigating the motives behind the attack. CSP Ravi Vaskel said that the police have registered a case and the matter is being thoroughly investigated.
As per reports, since the arrival of a new liquor contractor in Dhar in April, there have been reports of violence involving the contractor and his men. Following his appointment, the contractor allegedly vandalised tribal homes in Kukshi and Dahi and Excise department remained silent on the matter. This inaction led BJP leaders to launch protests and demand accountability from local authorities.
On the other hand, villagers have repeatedly intercepted vehicles transporting liquor to force police action in the matter.
Collector calls for awareness campaign against narcotics
Jhabua (Madhya Pradesh): Collector Neha Meena on Thursday convened a Narcotics Coordination meeting aimed at controlling and preventing drug abuse in the district.
The meeting called for the need for a comprehensive public awareness campaign to educate residents about the side effects associated with narcotics and substance abuse. The aim is also to help drug addicts overcome their addiction.
During the meeting, it was revealed that out of 374 registered chemists in the district, only one is authorised to sell Schedule X medications under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.

Collector Meena directed officials to inspect medical shops and take legal action for violation.
She expressed regret over a recent incident involving the distribution of incorrect medication and ordered a notice be issued to the drug inspector for negligence.
Additionally, the meeting discussed the need for inspections of shops selling intoxicants near educational institutions, regular health check-ups for students and ongoing counselling and de-addiction campaigns in schools. SP Padma Vilochan Shukla and others attended the meeting.
