Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A case of brutal assault with an elderly woman was reported from Gwalior’s Shinde Ki Chhawani area, where a 70-year-old mother-in-law was brutally thrashed, thrown on the floor and hit on the head by her own daughter-in-law.
Additionally, victim’s son was also assaulted by his wife’s father and brother. The entire incident was captured in CCTV footage, despite which, an FIR was registered 4 days after the incident.
According to information, the victim has been identified as Sarla Batra (70). She lives with her son Vishal Batra, his wife Neelika and her grandchildren. Her husband passed away 4 years ago.
Victim Sarla alleged that her daughter-in-law wants to take over the family's property and often argues with her. On the day of the incident, Neelika started abusing her over a minor household issue, around 2 pm. When Vishal tried to intervene, Neelima called her father Surendra Kohli and brother Nanak Kohli for support.

Accused also threatened to kill victim
Shortly after, Surendra, Nanak, and four other men barged inside their house, verbally abused Sarala and Vishal, and then started thrashing Vishal. When Sarala tried to protect her son, Neelima attacked her.
In the video, it can be seen Nilika pushed Sarala to the ground, kicked her, and even hit her head against a wall. The assault continued outside on the street, where they threatened to kill them if they lodged any complaint.
Police examine CCTV footage
After the attack, Sarala and Vishal went to Inderganj Police Station to file a complaint, however, the accused were already present there. Despite showing CCTV footage, the police did not register a case initially.
After four days, Sarala and her son finally approached senior officers. Only then did the police file an FIR.
Inderganj CSP Robin Jain confirmed that a case has been registered and that the police are now examining the CCTV footage for further investigation. Meanwhile, Sarala and Vishal are demanding justice from SSP Gwalior.
