Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Indore Four men were caught while they were illegally carrying beer and whisky worth Rs 1.5 lakh in a loading vehicle in the Kanadiya area late on Monday.
About 33 boxes containing liquor were recovered from them and a search is on for the vehicle driver, who managed to flee seeing the police. According to Kanadiya police station in-charge Saharsh Yadav, information was received that some men were carrying liquor to Kanadiya village side from the Bypass Road.
The police team reached the mentioned place and when the officials tried to stop the vehicle, the driver turned it onto an under-construction road due to which a tyre got burst. The driver of the vehicle managed to flee in the dark.
The remaining four men in the vehicle were caught by the police team and recovered 33 cartons of beer and liquor from the vehicle. Police claimed that the accused had hired the vehicle for transporting liquor illegally. However, further investigation is on into the case.
The accused Bunty Jaiswal, Gourav Ingle, Banwari Gurjar and Rohit Suryawanshi, the residents of the Vijay Nagar area of the city were arrested and were booked under section 34 (2) of the MP Excise Act. The accused are being questioned for the consignor and the consignee of the liquor.
