Mira-Bhayandar: This blindingly bright electronic billboard installed by a construction company at the junction near Rassaz Multiplex in Mira Road raises serious concerns about driver distraction and potential accidents. Although the giant sized bill board has been erected on a privately owned plot, it is dangerously distracting motorists on the public road.
The flashy, attention grabbing graphics which project advertising content as bright as the glare from high-beam lights has prompted road users to question if there were any regulations laid down by the civic and police authorities for this kind of high frequency lighting display.
Several studies have pointed to electronic billboards being dangerous distractions on the road as they can capture the driver's attention and gaze while affecting their response time, lateral control on vehicles and situational awareness.
