Chennai Super Kings have roped in South African youngster Dewald Brevis in the middle of IPL 2025 but Brevis has not got a chance to debut yet and when CSK head coach Stephen Fleming was asked about Brevis' debut, he said that Dewald Brevis could be one of the players to make his debut against SRH on Friday, April 25.
Brevis, who was not bought during the IPL 2025 auction, has been roped in by Chennai for the remainder of the season as a replacement for the injured Gurjpani Singh. Brevis has played 10 matches in his IPL career and scored 230 runs. When Fleming was asked if the South African player could make his debut for CSK on Friday, the coach admitted that he is one of the options they are considering.
Fleming said, "He is one of the options we will consider. We also have other players who have been with us throughout the tournament. Brevis is a good option for the team, but we just have to decide which team will suit us best, given the players who have worked with us, and we also have to see how much impact Brevis can make. So this is part of the discussion."
Fleming further talked about the struggle of the batsmen and said, "It is a mixture of many things, maybe low confidence. IPL is tough. Players are starting with 20 and 30 runs but we have not been able to convert them into big scores. We have not been able to play those 75+ innings that prepare the rest of the team. So the batting order has not worked properly and this year we have not had a single performance worthy of a respectable score."
