A new Nintendo Direct showcase is reportedly set to take place in mid-September, sparking speculation that the long-awaited anniversary showcase could finally be on the horizon.
Nintendo enthusiasts have been eagerly anticipating a Direct event recently. Despite a challenging period, fans have been kept entertained with a few tantalising rumours and minor reveals over the past few months, which have stirred up considerable excitement among the gaming community. However, these whispers eventually materialised into showcases that didn't quite meet players' expectations.
These rumoured showcases turned out to be the July Partner Showcase, which announced Monster Hunter Stories 3, and the Indie World showcase that revealed the release date for Mina the Hollower, developed by the Shovel Knight team. While these announcements were certainly appreciated by gamers, and arguably exceeded the expectations of some sceptical fans, many Nintendo Switch 2 owners were left yearning for first-party announcements to keep them engaged until the holiday season, particularly as release dates for Metroid Prime 4 and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment remain elusive.
With the release date for Hollow Knight: Silksong fast approaching, it's hard to believe anyone is looking beyond that, but Nintendo fans are known for their tenacity.
However, the rumour mill has started churning once again – this time, with a new detail that has piqued players' interest.

Mario could warp in soonDespite rumours of Nintendo Directs beginning to feel somewhat tiresome, a fresh one has emerged via leaker Nate the Hate, who has
to assert that a new showcase is scheduled to arrive in September. He declares with certainty that another Nintendo Direct is on the way, noting that it will occur in "the second week of the month, in the latter half on or around Sept 11 or 12th."Yes, there is a Nintendo Direct in September.

When: The second week of the month, in the latter half on or around Sept 11 or 12th.
Responding to a query, the leaker confirms that this is the sole presentation they're aware of, suggesting that if accurate, this represents the only showcase we'll receive in September from the gaming giant.
It's a persuasive assertion, particularly with a significant milestone approaching – Super Mario Bros's 40th anniversary lands on Saturday, August 13, and following the major Super Mario Bros 35th Anniversary Direct which unveiled Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury and the massive (and divisive) Super Mario 3D All-Stars, gamers are anticipating a comparable collection of announcements this year, particularly without a fresh 3D Mario title to dive into on the Nintendo Switch 2.
There remains no indication yet whether this Direct will spotlight the rotund plumber – or even if it will materialise at all – but meanwhile, it's enjoyable to become enthusiastic and optimistic. The Nintendo Switch 2 still has considerable ground to cover, and with additional Mario and other first party releases, we'll truly witness its genuine capabilities.
