The much-anticipated seventh season of has dropped, and one character that's got everyone talking is the enigmatic Verity from the second episode, aptly named Bete Noire.

Rosy McEwen, a talent from the UK, steps into the shoes of Verity, whose eerie influence over Maria (played by Siena Kelly) becomes increasingly disturbing, especially when she pops up at Maria's workplace.

Penned by Charlie Brooker, the official blurb for Bete Noire teases: "Confectionary whizz kid Maria is unnerved when her former schoolmate Verity joins the company she works at - because there's something altogether odd about Verity, something only Maria seems to notice..."

As viewers grapple with the twists and turns of the episode, many will be scratching their heads trying to pinpoint where they've seen the actress behind Verity before...

Notably, this isn't Rosy's first gig with ; she previously graced the screen in The Alienist, sharing scenes with big names like Luke Evans and Dakota Fanning, reports .

Her acting repertoire extends to playing the daughter of Christopher Eccleston in Channel 4's miniseries Close to Me and taking the lead in the 2022 indie flick Blue Jean, which earned her a British Independent Film Award nod.

Additionally, she's appeared with Eddie Marsan in the sci-fi movie Vesper and acted opposite Julia Garner in the Rosemary's Baby prequel, Apartment 7A.

Fans who pay close attention to BBC's Waking the Dead or Cranford might also have spotted her in her earlier television appearances.

When she was just 12, Rosy auditioned for the role of Briony in Ian McEwan's cinematic masterpiece Atonement, which featured stars like Keira Knightley and James McAvoy.

She was so close, making it to the final two, but ultimately the role went to Saoirse Ronan, the actress we all know from Ladybird, whose career skyrocketed after her performance in 'Atonement'.

Rosy recounted her audition experience to the Guardian, where she humorously quipped: "My mum loves this story. Claim to fame."

She also opened up about once doubting whether to continue pursuing acting, despite her passion for it, saying: "I was terrified of it not working out. It's such a hard job, in the sense that you can give it everything you've got but if the stars don't align for whatever reason ... I was frightened to fail."

Rosy has since achieved award-winning status and is prepping for a busy year ahead, including starring roles in two upcoming projects, including Prime Video's Scarpetta alongside Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis.
