Donald Trump boasts he's 'friends' with King Charles as he confirms date for trip to UK

The is set for a visit from later this year in a bid to boost transatlantic ties between the UK and the USA.

Trump, 78, is said to be making the trip on Air Force One with in September to meet with the Monarch at Windsor Castle. Sources said dates in June, July and August were discussed and dismissed by the second term president before they settle on a September visit, the . During a press conference in the Oval Office today, Trump said: “I was invited by the king and the great country. They are going to do a second fest - that’s what it is. It is beautiful.

“I think they are setting a date for September. I don’t know how it can be bigger than the last one. The last one was incredible but they say the next one will be even more important.”

Trump replied: "It’s a great honour to have Prime Minister Starmer at the Oval Office. It’s a very special place and he’s a special man – and the is a wonderful country I know very well, I’m there a lot.

"I’ll be going there and we expect to see each other in the near future – we’ll be announcing it."
