'I tried Gwyneth Paltrow's iconic cream blush, it's my secret to a healthy, flushed look'

As we age and our skin changes, our makeup preference evolves, and for me, I have opted for makeup with skincare benefits and for the hot weather, my skin needs a big drink.

My recent scroll on social media led me to Chantecaille Cheek Gelée, a hydrating liquid gel-cream blush with a texture as light as a serum but with a lasting power of a stain.

The liquid blush is a bestseller from the French luxury beauty brand and is loved by celebrities including GOOP founder Gwyneth Paltrow. Fans will know that the 52-year-old actress has been advocating for a holistic approach to health long before everyone and the products she used are always clean with no toxic chemicals.

That’s what sold me to try the Chantecaille Cheek Gelée, it’s been such a popular product that the brand has made the shades permanent and they are - Happy, Lively, Vibrant, Euphoric, Delight and Thrill - priced at £45 each.

I got myself in shade Lively, which is a fresh peach shade that Gwyneth also wore at the premiere of Avengers: The End Game. Celebrity makeup artist Georgie Eisdell explained: "I dabbed the Cheek Gelée in Lively, a coral peach shade, onto the apples of the cheeks to give a beautiful glow and a pop of colour."

Undoubtedly, this is more expensive than the blushes at drug stores but what makes the Cheek Gelée stand out is the texture. I have tried many liquid blushes in the past and most of them left my skin with a greasy feeling but the Chantecaille one does not, it is lightweight andsmooth without catching any hair on my cheeks.

Lively is a beautiful peach shade, and while it is easily buildable for intensity, I want it to be slightly more pigmented. The first time I used it I applied it in a blending motion with my fingers and realised that most of the pigments disappeared. So the next time I followed Georgie’s advice and dabbed the blush on with a light finger tap, the shade came through and left a glowing sheen on my cheeks.

The effect is similar to Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dewy Flush, which I also enjoy using in summer but it might not be suitable for people who are sensitive to fragrance. It is currently on offer at Cult Beauty and reduced from £22 to £17.60. However the glass bottle design is more suitable for at-home use than travel.

Rare Beauty’s Soft Pinch Liquid Blush is my second go-to, and I use the shade Virtue in summer. Available at SpaceNK for £24, the blush leaves a thicker consistency in texture.

The Chantecaille Cheek Gelée formula is vegan, gluten-free, and shoppers also loved the blush. One said: "I have the Cheek Gelée in all colours now. My favourite is still Lively. I have found you only need a very small amount. This gives you a nice rosy winter look. Highly recommend all colours."

Another added: "This is a really nice alternative to powder blushes - loved the way it blends into skin creating a natural healthy look. It can easily be layered up to achieve the intensity I need. It also stays on my skin quite long."
