Mark Wright shares meaning behind daughter's sweet name Palma – and how to pronounce it

has explained the process behind his baby daughter’s name. star and his wife welcomed the newborn on March 6, and revealed her moniker on social media.

In a shared post announcing the arrival of their little girl, Michelle and Mark penned: "Together we have a new love to share... Our little girl. Palma Elizabeth Wright. 06.03.25."

After spending some weeks getting used to their new family member, Mark, 38, has opened up about becoming a dad for the first time - alongside sharing more details about Palma’s unique name.

Speaking to hosts and on alongside his radio pal , he shared that he and alum Michelle tweaked a name they already liked to create something fresh for Palma.

He addressed rumours that Palma was named after a Spanish resort, and simply explained: "That's what the papers say, we just love the name, we love the name Palmer with an ‘er’ and then we just liked the way it read, so we just love the name really."

Alongside disclosing the truth behind Palma’s name, Mark also shared . "She's absolutely amazing, she's so good, she's only five weeks old. We get to 11pm and she won't wake up until 5," he gushed.

"They say it's the best feeling in the – they're not wrong," Mark said of how he and Michelle were taking to their new roles, while admitting that had given him advice about the newborn stage. Ominously, Ed jokingly imparted: "It gets better."

It has been a big week for Palma, with the little girl even as he filled in for JK on the Heart Drivetime show.

Mark treated his listeners to a surprise as his little girl joined him on the airwaves. Speaking to his listeners, he said: "I’ve got a very special moment happening right now to me. I am doing the show to you on Heart, I love being here, I love playing the songs like Amy Winehouse on the way and Jessie J.

"But at the same time, I have got my baby Palma in my arms. It is the first time I’ve brought her to work, I mean, it’s only been five weeks, so you’d think so. But it’s just the best feeling ever.

"I don’t know if you’ve ever taken your kid to work before, but the pride that you have walking through the office and everyone going ‘aw she’s so cute.’ She’s on my shoulder right now, and I better be careful because she might learn a few tricks and end up coming for my job one day, but I wouldn’t mind."
