Wrexham have been told they made an error by not snapping up a top striker in the summer. The Red Dragons' start to life in the Championship has been a rollercoaster ride after their promotion from League One last season.
Phil Parkinson's team are currently sitting in 18th place, having taken ten points from their opening nine fixtures. The Welsh club splashed the cash in the last transfer window, shelling out a whopping £33million on 13 new signings.
Among Wrexham's new recruits was Wales striker Kieffer Moore, who made the switch from Sheffield United for £2m in August. The 33-year-old has hit the ground running, netting four times in the league so far, with his side managing to score in every match.
However, former Wrexham striker Matt Jansen fears they don't have enough firepower to make a real impact in the Championship. The ex-Blackburn ace is adamant that the club's co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac should have dug deeper into their pockets to tempt Jamie Vardy to the Racecourse Ground.
The Leicester City icon was claimed to be on Wrexham's radar after calling time on his 13-year stint with the Foxes, but he opted to join Italian outfit Cremonese as a free agent instead.

Jansen, speaking to the podcast in association with Palantir Financial Planning, said: "Could Wrexham have pushed the boat out a little bit more for Jamie Vardy? Maybe he wanted the earth, I don't know. But with Kieffer Moore, only time will tell whether he'll be able to get them the goal.
"I like Josh Windass, but he's not a prolific goalscorer and I do worry that they haven't got that. Maybe Kieffer Moore might prove me wrong and Ryan Hardie will chip in with a few goals.
"But I think they could have pushed the boat out for Jamie Vardy or somebody similar. I think that would have stood them in better stead than not having that proven goalscorer."

The Red Dragons' Hollywood owners are determined to lift them all the way to the Premier League in the coming years. Jansen understands exactly what's required to escape the second tier having secured promotion from the division with Blackburn in 2000-01, finishing as the league's runner-up in the scoring charts with 23 goals.
Moore currently leads Wrexham's goalscoring charts after finding the net four times, with fresh faces Josh Windass and Lewis O'Brien also contributing three goals apiece. Nathan Broadhead has managed just a single goal since his club-record switch from Ipswich in August after battling fitness problems.
Striker Ryan Hardie also arrived from Plymouth at the beginning of the summer, but is yet to find the back of the net, whilst fellow forward Sam Smith has managed just one goal. Securing another striker could prove expensive for Reynolds and Mac should the club choose to enter the transfer market for reinforcements in January.
However, former Wrexham boss Dean Saunders reckons they already possess sufficient quality in attack to compete, despite expressing concerns about Moore's inconsistent scoring record in previous campaigns.
"They have enough players who can score, and with Phil Parkinson at the helm they can exploit set pieces," said the ex-Wales striker. "The defenders will chip in there.
"They've been swift to act and get rid of players from one successful season and bring in new faces for the next challenge ahead. So if there's a problem this season, they'll act again.
"I hope Kieffer gets to ten goals quickly, because he's a streaky scorer. He can score ten in ten and then go quiet for another ten. But he's a great asset for them and good in the air. When teams park the bus, he can make something out of a nothing ball."
