Sunday Brunch hit with complaints minutes in as viewers left moaning instantly

Sunday Brunchviewers were left unimpressed just minutes into the latest programme airing.

The hit Channel 4 show returned to TV screens on Sunday (September 7) for another morning of food, laughter and music. Joining hosts Tim Lovejoyand Simon Rimmer were another batch of famous faces.

Sitting at the famous table, the pair chatted to the likes of presenter AJ Odudu, funnyman Phil Ellis, pop star Diana Vickers and comedian Natalie Haynes, while singer Tom Odell also performed.

However, just minutes into the show airing complaints poured in by angry viewers who hit out at the line-up of celebs. On X, one person fumed: “Didn’t have time to book any celebs today?”

Someone else added: “Surprise Surprise, not clue who they are.” A third chimed in: “Plumbing new depths with Z list non celebs.”

It comes after host Tim Lovejoy was forced to stepin last week after E4 Celebs Go Dating star Anna Williamson unexpectedly stepped out to take a brief break.

Anna had nipped away during the break but hadn't returned to her seat in time before the Channel 4 show went on air again.

Not wanting to delay, Tim and his co-host, chef Simon Rimmer, introduced Malaysian chef Abby Lee, the owner of London's Clapton restaurant Mambow.

The two presenters were deep in conversation with Abby about her business and heritage when Tim abruptly stopped the chitchat, announcing, "Can I just stop you as Anna needs to come back to the table and she's walking around behind the camera there."

He beckoned for the podcaster to return to her seat, saying: "Anna, if you'd like to...," before he proceeded to playfully "boo" the TV star as she made her way across the set.

Anna started making her way across the studio, taking her place next to other guests, Robert Rinder, Darius Rucker, Faye Tozer, Claire Richards, telling everyone: "Sorry, ladies called."

Tim and Simon wasted no time getting the show back on track, apologising to his guest Abby, adding: "I'm so sorry."

Sunday Brunch airs every Sunday at 10am on Channel 4.
