There is no devotee of Hanuman here, not only this, people here also avoid names like Hanuman, Bajrang, Sankatmochan and Maruti but why is this so?

The story behind this is related to the Ramayana period. There is a village named Dronagiri in Chamoli, Uttarakhand. In this village, even taking the name of Hanuman ji is prohibited. There is no idol or temple of Hanuman here. Ram ji is worshipped here but the residents here are angry with Hanuman ji from the Ramayana period till now. The people here do not worship Hanuman but worship Nimba demon, the enemy of Ram.

Its strings are connected to the Ramayana period

According to beliefs, its story is related to the Ramayana period. It is said that when Lakshman Ji was unconscious in the war with Ravana, Hanuman Ji came to this village to get Sanjivani herb. While searching for the herb, Hanuman Ji could not understand which herb to take and he lifted the entire mountain to save Lakshman Ji's life because only Sanjivani could save Lakshman Ji's life.

The local deity here did not forgive Hanuman ji

The local deity Latu Devta did not forgive Hanuman ji for doing this. The locals believe that Hanuman ji did not take permission before uprooting the mountain and at that time the mountain deity was engaged in meditation. Hanuman ji uprooted the right hand of the mountain deity and took it away, due to which even today the people here have not been able to forgive Hanuman ji. This is the reason why the people here neither worship Hanuman ji nor take his name.
