Mumbai: Inappropriate Conduct Inside AC Bus Sparks Outrage, Inquiry Initiated
A controversial incident from Navi Mumbai has triggered public concern and administrative action. As per media reports, a young couple, allegedly around 20 years of age, was found engaging in intimate behavior inside a moving Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) AC bus on Sunday night.
The couple was reportedly seated on the rear side of the bus near the window. The incident came to light when a bystander in a nearby vehicle recorded a video, which later went viral on social media. This has raised serious questions regarding public conduct and transportation oversight.
Administrative Action TakenOfficials have confirmed that the bus conductor is under scrutiny for failing to monitor the situation. A senior official stated that the conductor has been issued a formal warning and asked to explain how such an incident occurred under his supervision. According to initial findings, the conductor was seated in the front section of the bus and was unaware of the activities happening at the back due to limited passenger presence.
Bus Was Reportedly Almost EmptyAccording to activist Anarnit Chauhan, who raised the issue, the bus was en route from Panvel to Kalyan and had few passengers. Due to traffic congestion, the bus was moving slowly, which allowed someone in another vehicle to capture the footage through the window. The video was then forwarded to the concerned authorities.
Officials have assured that appropriate measures will be taken to ensure such incidents do not recur, and that public transport remains a safe and dignified space for all.
