Arsenal team-mate leaves Viktor Gyokeres speechless in Nottingham Forest win

Arsenal midfielder Martin Zubimendi left his team-mate Viktor Gyokeres stunned with his goalscoring prowess in the Premier League victory over Nottingham Forest. The Gunners returned to winning form following the international break, securing a 3-0 triumph over Ange Postecoglou's team.

Zubimendi netted his first goals for Arsenal since transferring to the Emirates Stadium, with his impressive strike, to kick off the scoring, arriving in the 32nd minute. Gyokeres extended Arsenal's lead shortly after half-time, before Zubimendi bagged his second of the match, sealing the result with just 11 minutes remaining.

While Zubimendi isn't renowned for his goal-scoring abilities, Mikel Arteta will be eager to see him incorporate this into his Arsenal performances, even if it does astonish his teammates.

In a post-match interview with TNT Sport, Arsenal forward Gyokeres expressed his surprise at both of the midfielder's goals. "I haven't seen him do that in training, to be fair, so it was good that he pulled that one out," he said of the first goal. "The header as well, I was a bit surprised with that, but great to see him score two."

The match held additional intrigue as former Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou took the reins for his inaugural Forest game. However, it was the Arsenal players who stole the show, with summer recruits Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke particularly standing out with their performances.

"Those two are amazing in their positions," Gyokeres added. "They always do something special. We definitely saw that today."

Gyokeres' strike marked his third goal for Arsenal since his summer departure from Sporting, with all three efforts coming at the Emirates Stadium. "It feels amazing, just a great feeling to score and get the win as well," he said.

"It feels great, the guys in the team have been amazing," he added regarding his adaptation at Arsenal. "It's been so easy to get into the group. But, of course, there is a bit of time where you have to settle in with everything around."

Arsenal return to action on Tuesday evening when they face Athletic Club away from home in their Champions League opener (5.45pm kick-off). Arsenal won't be complaining if Zubimendi continues to surprise his teammates with his goalscoring prowess.
