Fans of CBS News were concerned as the American news channel showed a clip of President Donald Trump giving sweet treats to children. The White House inhabitant and his wife, Melania, welcomed youngsters on Halloween as they gave them chocolate bars as they showed off their costumes.
Guests for the event included parents and children of military, law enforcement, foster and adoptive families. Top White House officials, including White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, were also spotted with their families at the event. One child, who was dressed as record producer and DJ Marshmello, approached the US leader at the Halloween celebration, with their interaction caught on camera. But instead of putting the full-sized chocolate bar into the young person's trick-or-treat bag, Trump decided to rest it on top of their head instead.
He tapped it three times before placing it on top, as the child held out their hand in bewilderment and then walked away.
Viewers then shared their thoughts about the unusual moment on social media. Posting to X/Twitter, one concerned person wrote: "Is he ok? Why did he do that?"
Another fumed: "Wow, always gotta ruin every event." And one more said: "Does he think that's funny?"
Someone else angrily asked: "How does Trump manage to make everything seem so unnatural, like he hasn't seen any of this before?"
However, others loved the moment, with one pointing out: "Wait what? Trump has done that to kids every year he's been president why is he so weird , last time Melania did it too."
"That's classic Trump for you, always keeping it interesting," another wrote as a third said: "Almost an exact replay of 2019 - classic Trump moment."
The bizarre moment mirrored a viral incident from Halloween 2019. Back then, the president placed Hershey's chocolate bar on a kid's head who was dressed as a character from the Minions movie.
