Matt Selt crashed out of the - and revealed he is moving to Dubai. The controversial qualifier was blown away 10-4 by China's Xiao Guodong at the Crucible Theatre on Sunday.
And Selt believes the move will give his snooker career a new lease of life with world No.1 now splitting his time between the city and Hong Kong.
"It is a big move for me and the family. It's one that we have decided to grab with two hands," said Selt.
"We are looking forward to it. We move there in July. We will be settled there in terms of residency. We had an offer on the house Saturday, which we will accept.
"The school's already paid for. My kids are really young. Really looking forward to seeing the adventure that they are going on.
"From a snooker perspective, Judd is living there, he is based there now.
"To have the opportunity to practice with him, on a more regular basis, will only be good for my snooker. I feel like it's time for a change in terms of life, not career, we will see how that pans out. Very exciting times."
Slow starter Selt resumed 7-2 down to Xiao, but quickly fought back to 7-4 with breaks of 54 and 83.
But any hopes of a memorable Crucible comeback were crushed as world No.14 Xiao wrapped up the match with runs of 62 and 52 to reach the second round for the fist time since 2017.
