Man Utd could be missing six players vs Burnley including Kobbie Mainoo

Up to half a dozen players could be ruled out of Manchester United's match with Burnley due to injury concerns. The Red Devils are desperate to bounce back to winning form when they welcome the Championship side to Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

Despite showing encouraging signs in their opening defeat to Arsenal, United's promising start quickly unravelled with a disappointing draw against Fulham after squandering a lead. Their woes deepened when League Two minnows Grimsby Town knocked them out of the Carabao Cup second round in a dramatic 12-11 penalty shootout. Whilst United will back themselves against the Clarets, Scott Parker's men will be determined to heap further misery on their hosts.

Ruben Amorim faces a selection headache with five key men unavailable for duty.

Both Noussair Mazraoui and Lisandro Martinez remain sidelined as they continue their recovery from recent injury setbacks.

When quizzed about his squad's condition on Friday, the United manager told MUTV: "Really well. I had some choices to make [for the weekend's side]. It was hard. I tried to choose the best starting XI, knowing that, sometimes, it's not the starting XI that is going to finish or close the game, so everyone is really important."

Parker faces his own injury concerns with four players potentially missing - Jordan Beyer, Connor Roberts, Manuel Benson and Zeki Amdouni.

However, the Burnley chief could hand Axel Tuanzebe a return to the starting eleven after his recent absence through injury. "We have been able to improve on where we are," Parker stated during his pre-match press conference.

"Some of the lads got minutes during the week [in their Carabao Cup win over Derby County on Tuesday] - Armando Broja, Axel Tuanzebe and Bashir Humphreys - and that helps them get up to speed."

Meanwhile, it remains to be seen if United players linked with moves away will feature in Amorim's squad.

Kobbie Mainoo is seeking a potential exit due to concerns over his own playing time in a World Cup year, with interest from Serie A and the Premier League.

Rasmus Hojlund is also putting the finishing touches on his loan to Napoli, which could be made permanent by the end of the season.

While Antony saw his transfer to Real Betis fall apart and he is unlikely to be involved against Burnley. Tyrell Malacia remains similarly sidelined as he tries to seal a move to Elche.
