Meghan Markle has been warned she could be deserted by her Instagram followers after not "grasping" social media rules, an expert has said. Since rejoining the platform in January, the Duchess of Sussex, 43, has been somewhat of a success, reaching four million followers in just seven months.
However, while the Duchess was posting fairly regularly, this seems to have now changed, with Meghan's last post being on July 4. While she has continued to post on her professional As Ever business page, her personal @meghan Instagram account has remained silent.
Although the reason for this is unknown, a brand and culture expert has exclusively told Express.co.uk that the radio silence could be a risk as her followers could lose interest in her as she isn't staying consistent on social media.
Brand and culture expert Nick Ede said: "The issue is that we all know with social media it's about consistency and speaking to your audience, and it doesn't feel like she's grasping that side of things.
"It may be that she genuinely doesn't have anything to actively promote so she's taking a back seat for a while on that side of things, but her followers may desert her."
Mr Ede has also said that he thinks Prince Harry's wife may have gone radio silent on Instagram to gain momentum, with the idea that she could be planning a big announcement soon.
He said: "I think that it's a way of building momentum and so she can make a new announcement which once again will gain column inches."
Meghan's last post on her personal account was on July 4 to mark Independence Day in America, where the duchess and Prince Harry have lived with their children for the last five years.
In the post, Meghan shared a family tradition of making cupcakes for the celebration, something Harry did for her on their second ever date, which fell on July 4, 2016.
Since then, the Duchess has not posted on her personal account, but has continued to post on her As Ever business account.
