Thiruvananthapuram: Systems have been set up in govt hospitals to allow digital payment for various services, said health minister Veena George.
"In the first phase, 313 hospitals were equipped with digital payment facilities. Efforts are underway to implement this system in the remaining hospitals within a month. The initiative enables payments for various services available at state healthcare centres via credit card, debit card, and UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe). The project is implemented in collaboration with Information Kerala Mission under the local self govt department. The POS devices are provided through State Bank of India and Canara Bank," said George.
The minister will launch the digital payment system, online OP tickets, m-Health app and the scan and book system on April 7.
Online OP ticket
A facility is being arranged to book OP tickets online in advance for accessing doctors' services in all modern medicine hospitals under state health department. In the first phase, 687 hospitals where the e-Health project was implemented and around 80 health centres from taluk hospitals to medical colleges where the e-Health project is not yet implemented are included. The public can utilise this facility via computers, smartphones or Akshaya centres.
m-Health mobile app
The m-Health app provides individuals with digital access to their and family members' treatment information, prescriptions, and lab test reports using their UHID or mobile number. This mobile application can be downloaded and used on Android phones. It also allows users to book OP tickets in advance.
Scan and book
The scan and book system allows patients visiting govt hospitals to obtain tokens without standing in line. By scanning the QR code displayed at the hospital using a smartphone, patients can book OP tickets online, enabling them to access doctors' services without waiting at the reception.
