Agartala: BJP observed its 46th Foundation Day through various programmes across Tripura on Sunday and Monday. The central programme was organised on Sunday in the party's state committee office at Krishnanagar, where state president Rajib Bhattacharjee hoisted the party flag in the presence of chief minister Manik Saha and other leaders.

Addressing the occasion, Saha said BJP played a very important role in saving the nation from a disaster as the previous govts were leading it into a dark age. BJP is a party of its karyakartas who dedicated their lives to the betterment of others, he said.

Saha said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has undertaken a mission to set the nation above all in the world and the party karyakartas must work to accomplish the task.

Bhattacharjee recalled the brief history of the formation of BJP since the days of the foundation of Bharatiya Janasangha by Bharat Keshari Syama Prasad Mookerjee. He said the people of the country have entrusted BJP with a historical responsibility and we are implementing it under the leadership of Modi. Party flags were hoisted in all the offices of the party across the state where the local leaders were present.

Meanwhile, Youth Congress has alleged that the BJP-led state govt has abandoned the younger generation and decided to organise a statewide agitation demanding the creation of job opportunities for them.

Youth Congress president Neel Kamal Saha said, "Youths of the state are facing a deep crisis as the ruling party is systematically dragging them into drug addiction", adding that corruption and nepotism have gripped the entire society and the ruling party is patronising such activities.

He said unemployment has become a serious problem in the state as the youths are turning hopeless and the ruling party is utilising their frustrations. In such a situation, Youth Congress has decided to take to the streets and go for a statewide agitation for which a detailed programme will be announced soon, Saha said.
