Shillong: Meghalaya CM Conrad K Sangma on Monday undertook the Rhododendron Riot Trek in Upper Shillong to highlight the beauty of historical significance of this lesser known forest pathway.
The Rhododendron Riot Trek is home to endemic species of plants and holds historic significance with bunkers from World War-II.
A must visit for nature lovers and ardent trekkers, summer is the best time to visit as one can catch a glimpse of the luscious greenery and the beautiful rhododendron trees.
"An adventurous morning trekking through the Rhododendron Riot Trek in Upper Shillong. This trek is about 2.5 hours in the heart of Shillong city and is an experience to behold with lush greens and glimpses of beautiful rhododendron flowers. A much-needed quietness from the busy city life. Meghalaya is surrounded by natural beauty everywhere," the Meghalaya chief minister said.
