Bhilwara: A complete shutdown was observed in Asind town in Bhilwara district Monday after a young man was stabbed and critically injured late Sunday night. To maintain law and order, police were deployed throughout the town and the accused, 19-year-old Danish Pathan, was detained for questioning, officials said.
Asind deputy SP Omprakash said Rakesh Dholi, a shoe shop owner, demanded around Rs 50,000 from a young man from another community. On Sunday night, the person in question, Danish Pathan, called Rakesh to his neighbourhood to settle the payment. A dispute arose between them over the money, and Danish stabbed Rakesh with a knife. Rakesh was initially treated at Asind govt hospital and later transferred to Bhilwara district hospital due to his critical condition, where he is still receiving treatment.
The incident sparked anger among the Hindu community, which observed a complete shutdown of markets in the town. Protesters gathered near the Charbhuja Temple and demanded immediate action against the accused. Local BJP MLA Jabbar Singh Sankhla and police officials appealed for peace.
