NEW DELHI: Andhra Pradesh deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan has ordered an investigation into reports that some students missed their JEE examination in the Pendurthi area due to delays caused by his convoy, according to an official statement from the chief minister's office on April 8.

The deputy chief minister has directed the Visakhapatnam police to look into the incident and determine the duration of traffic stoppage, traffic conditions on routes leading to exam centers, and whether traffic control measures were implemented on service roads.

"How long was the traffic stopped for the convoy? What was the traffic situation on the routes where the students had to reach the exam center at that time? Was any traffic control done on the service roads?" the official statement detailed.

Kalyan emphasized his commitment to preventing public inconvenience during his tours, with police instructed to regulate traffic only briefly during visits by coalition government chief ministers.

The statement noted that even during helicopter travel, authorities avoid disrupting road traffic or cutting trees. It also mentioned that the central office has issued strict guidelines to party members against activities that could cause traffic disruptions, such as crane garlands and other programs.

"The party leaders followed the same discipline during this visit as well," the statement confirmed, highlighting that party officials were informed about these protocols before each visit.

The administration's response comes amid concerns about the impact of VIP movements on public activities, particularly those affecting students appearing for important examinations.

The incident occurred in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, where students were reportedly unable to reach their JEE examination center in the Pendurthi area on time due to traffic restrictions related to the Deputy chief minister's convoy movement.
