VISAKHAPATNAM: The Kasibugga police in Srikakulam district have cracked a series of burglary cases, arresting two men and recovering stolen property worth over Rs 45 lakh.
The accused have been identified as Pola Bhaskara Rao (41) from Parvathipuram Manyam district and Muddada Narasinga Rao (34) from Srikakulam district.
According to police chief KV Maheswara Reddy, the recovered stolen items include 435 grams of gold ornaments, 234 grams of silver jewellery, diamond jewellery, Rs 25,000 in cash, two motorcycles, and an SUV.
"With these arrests, we have solved 17 property offences reported from various parts of the district," he said.
Investigations revealed that Bhaskara Rao had been involved in criminal activities since 1998, when he was in Class IX.
Over the years, he committed 37 property offences across north Andhra Pradesh and was convicted in eight cases. His accomplice, Narasinga Rao, had a criminal history of 17 property offences, with convictions in three cases.
Police said the duo operated by scouting villages during the daytime to identify locked houses before returning at night to break in and steal valuables.
