Fortnite players woke up to a brief pause in the action today, sparking the usual buzz: Is Fortnite down? The answer is yes, but only temporarily, and for good reason. Epic Games rolled out the much-anticipated v34.30 update early this morning, bringing the servers down for maintenance before unleashing a fresh wave of content featuring none other than pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter .

The servers went offline around 4:00 am ET and returned approximately at 6:30 am ET, following Epic’s usual downtime schedule for major patches. During this window, players were unable to join matches or access game features. However, as soon as Fortnite was back online, fans were treated to a star-studded surprise.

Sabrina Carpenter headlines Fortnite Festival Season 8

Leading the update is Sabrina Carpenter’s debut as the newest Fortnite Festival ICON . The singer-songwriter headlines Season 8 of the rhythm-based Festival mode, bringing two exclusive skins. One unlockable via the Music Pass (priced at 1,400 V-Bucks), and another available in the Item Shop.

Players can now perform to her chart-topping hits including Please Please Please and Espresso, with returning tracks like Feather and Nonsense expected to join the playlist. Cosmetic items include a bedazzled red heart microphone, a lipstick-kiss guitar back bling, themed emotes, and more. Offering fans a stylish way to celebrate Carpenter’s in-game presence.

What else is in Fortnite’s v34.30 update?
Beyond the music, the v34.30 update introduces new gameplay content. The Ballistic mode gets a major upgrade with a new map titled Hammer Fall and a complete ranked reset. A much-anticipated Adventure Time collaboration is also teased, with leaked skins of Finn, Jake, Marceline, and Princess Bubblegum expected to drop later in the season.

Weapon changes are also part of the patch, including the arrival of the SMG and Dynamite combo, Gilded Eye Drum Gun, Cluster Launcher, Crossbow, and Hop Rock SMG—bringing fresh firepower to Fortnite’s combat loop.

Epic has also addressed several bugs across modes including Save the World and LEGO Fortnite. Fixes include issues with Rocket Drill fall damage, inventory lockups, and visual bugs for mobile users.

Following today’s update, players can look forward to the next patch, v34.40, scheduled for April 22. Meanwhile Chapter 6 Season 3 is expected to launch with v35.00 on May 2, rumoured to feature a major Star Wars crossover.

For now, fans can enjoy Carpenter’s high-energy addition while Fortnite continues to strike the perfect chord between gaming and pop culture.
