SRINAGAR: An Army officer posted along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district died in the line of duty, the Army said. The major did not die in combat.
The Army’s Srinagar-based 15 Corps, also called Chinar Corps , said they “salute” the major’s “valour”. The corps said they stood “in solidarity with the bereaved family and are committed to their well-being”.
Officers said Major Apraant Raunaq Singh , a resident of Banaras, was posted in Nowgam sector of Kupwara.
Meanwhile J&K DGP Nalin Prabhat told police that “no guilty should escape, and no innocent should be harmed”. Reviewing security in Sopore, north Kashmir, where he inaugurated the newly established Special Operations Group complex and chaired a high-level security meeting, the DGP stressed maintaining a robust security grid and continuous pressure on terrorists and their ecosystem through both kinetic and non-kinetic actions.
