NEW DELHI: India on Wednesday expelled another Pakistani official, declaring him persona non grata for indulging in activities not in keeping with his official status in India. The official was asked to leave India within 24 hours.
It is believed that the official, working as a visa assistant in the Pakistan high commission , was linked to a Pakistani spy ring. In a statement, the govt said the Pakistan charge d'affaires was issued a demarche and was asked to strictly ensure that none of the Pakistani diplomats or officials in India misuse their privileges and status in any manner.
Another Pakistan staffer was expelled last week for his involvement in similar activities in Punjab. According to the police in Amritsar, they busted a spy ring with the arrest of two people who were involved in obtaining sensitive information and passing it on to their Pakistani handlers.
