MAGA activist and Trump ally Laura Loomer launched an attack on New York mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani , saying the socialist should be “denaturalised.”
In a post on X, the right-winger wrote, “People are now taking Polymarket bets on whether or not Zohran Mamdani will be deported. He should certainly be denaturalized. Only in America can an Islamic immigrant from Africa openly support terrorism, maintain their citizenship and become Mayor of America’s most iconic city.”
Her comments stirred a row online, with many accusing her of Islamophobia and xenophobia.
This is not the first time Loomer has targeted Mamdani, the 33-year-old who defeated Andrew Cuomo in the NYC mayoral race earlier this month. In May, Loomer posted on X, “Get ready for another 9/11,” referring to him as a “pro-HAMAS Muslim socialist.”
Earlier this month, Laura Loomer was officially credentialed to cover the US Department of Defense. Her inclusion comes as part of a broader overhaul of the Pentagon press corps that has raised concern over press freedom and transparency under the GOP administration.
Loomer is a vocal Trump supporter known for spreading conspiracy theories and targeting Muslim and immigrant politicians. She will now have formal access to Pentagon briefings and events. The decision to grant her credentials has raised eyebrows among journalists and policy observers, many of whom view it as part of a larger effort to reshape media access under an increasingly politicised environment.
Mamdani built his campaign around housing affordability, free public buses, taxing the rich and rent freezes — issues that have resonated with younger voters and working-class communities across the city.
