MG Windsor EV Long-Range Variant Expected Soon: Bigger Battery, 460 km Range, and More

New Version to Challenge Tata Curvv.ev and Mahindra BE6 in India’s EV Market

MG Motor India is set to introduce a long-range variant of its popular electric vehicle, the MG Windsor EV, promising significantly improved driving range and updated performance features. Building on the strong positive response the Windsor EV has garnered since its launch, the upcoming version aims to further strengthen MG’s foothold in the Indian EV segment.

Bigger Battery, Longer Range

The most notable update will be the introduction of a 50.6 kWh battery pack, replacing the current 38 kWh unit. This upgrade is expected to deliver an impressive 460 kilometers of range on a single full charge — matching the range capabilities of the MG ZS EV.

Despite the bigger battery, the dimensions of the Windsor EV will remain unchanged. However, the model may feature new alloy wheel designs to visually differentiate it from the current version.

Performance Specifications
  • Motor: It remains uncertain whether the same Permanent Magnet Synchronous (PMS) motor will be carried forward.

  • Expected Output:

    • Power: 131.3 bhp

    • Torque: 200 Nm

    • Top Speed: 175 km/h

These figures are identical to the current Windsor EV, suggesting that the focus of this upgrade is predominantly on range rather than performance enhancements.

Charging Capabilities
  • AC Charging: 20% to 100% in around 7 hours

  • DC Fast Charging: 30% to 80% in about 30 minutes

The new battery pack will continue supporting rapid charging, making the long-range Windsor EV a practical choice for daily commuters and long-distance travelers alike.

Expected Price and Market Positioning

The long-range Windsor EV variant is expected to command a premium of around ₹4 lakh over the current top-end model. With this pricing strategy, MG is positioning the updated Windsor EV to compete directly with the Tata Curvv.ev and Mahindra BE6 — two of the most anticipated electric SUVs in the Indian market.

Launch Timeline

The long-range MG Windsor EV is likely to be officially launched in India next month, with deliveries expected to begin shortly after.

Key Highlights of Upcoming MG Windsor EV Long Range Variant:
  • New 50.6 kWh battery delivering 460 km range

  • Retained motor output: 131.3 bhp, 200 Nm torque
