Pakistan Violates Ceasefire Again Along LoC; Tensions Rise Post-Pahalgam Terror Attack

Unprovoked Firing Reported in Nowshera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor Sectors Overnight

Srinagar, April 30 — In a renewed act of aggression, Pakistan violated the ceasefire agreement along the Line of Control (LoC) on the night of April 29–30, targeting Indian forward positions in Jammu and Kashmir’s Nowshera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor sectors, according to the Indian Army.

This marks a continuing series of provocative actions by Pakistan’s military following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which has heightened tensions between the two countries.

Indian Army Responds Firmly to Provocation

The Indian Army confirmed that Pakistani posts initiated unprovoked firing during the night, attempting to provoke a response from Indian forces. Indian troops responded “swiftly and appropriately” to the aggression.

“The firing was unprovoked and occurred without any justifiable reason,” stated a senior army official. “Our forces maintained restraint but responded effectively to ensure the safety of our personnel and positions.”

Strategic Intent Behind Night-time Shelling: Experts

Defense analysts believe that the timing of the ceasefire violations—mostly during the night—signals a deliberate attempt by Pakistan to escalate tensions along the border and divert attention from internal instability and cross-border militant activities.

“Firing under cover of darkness is a classic tactic to test Indian readiness and to create instability along the LoC,” said a defense expert familiar with the region.

Rising Concerns After Pahalgam Attack

These ceasefire violations come just days after the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed multiple lives and drew widespread condemnation. Indian security agencies suspect Pakistan-backed elements were involved in that incident.

The Indian military remains on high alert across LoC-facing sectors, and top-level security reviews are being conducted in light of increasing cross-border hostilities.
